SOUTH CUMBRIA MUSICAL FESTIVAL 2006

LIST OF RESULTS

Due mainly to a larger number of entries for this year's Festival Piano Day was spread over two consecutive days (Tuesday 28th April and Wednesday 29th). This also meant that there was more competition, especially in the younger classes. Despite this we still managed to produce very impressive results; in fact, in terms of the ratio of the number of entries to the number of prizes won, 2006 was probably our best year yet! As is always the case, each performance was of a very high standard and included the following:

• Ryan Clyde painting a rather evocative musical picture of The Snake Charmer by Pamela Wedgwood.
• Jordan Harrop playing the March from Six Children's Pieces by Shostakovich.
• George Pamenter making up for last year (when unfortunately he was ill and had to withdraw)-- by winning First and Second Prizes AND a special trophy. Needless to say, his playing was exceptional too!
• Maria and Sally Lacey giving a very exciting performance of Grieg's In The Hall of the Mountain King.
• Karen Wong playing Glière's Esquisse.with lots of expression.
• Dennis Chan giving a stylish performance of Mayerl's Autumn Crocus.
